  Minister

The Reverend Julie Denny-Hughes

Welcome to my part of the Universalist Unitarian Church website. I have just arrived in Halifax myself and am settling in to a new home and a new congregation. This congregation has a long and exciting past and I am honored to be a part of its future. It’s an exciting time for the congregation and we hope you will come and join in.

I know that folks are interested in ministers’ backgrounds, so here’s a little information for you. - I have served UU congregations in Glen Allen (suburban Richmond), VA; Raleigh, NC; and Palatine, IL.

  • My Seminary degree (1995) is from Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago. I had two internships: one at the UU Fellowship of Raleigh, NC and one with the Ethics Working Group of the IUCN headquartered in Chicago. At graduation I was awarded the Faculty Prize for Religious Leadership. I was ordained in 1995 by the UU Church of Greater Bridgeport (Stratford), CT.

  • My undergraduate degree is from the University of Illinois in Chicago (1972) with a double major in American Studies and philosophy.

  • Prior to my call to ministry I had a career in technical writing and training, which culminated in the creation of my own consulting business with clients ranging from UNISYS to Bell Labs.

  • I have two grown children and five grandchildren in Indianapolis, IN and Yardley, PA.
