Our
Worship Service
Worship Services
are held Sunday mornings at 10:30 am, and are opened
with the lighting of a chalice, the symbol of
Unitarian Universalism. Because our tradition is
based on a Western Judeo-Christian heritage, most of
our services include hymns, readings, and a homily.
Sometimes services include rituals, chants and other
religious traditions that are outside the
Judeo-Christian background. Our services also include
a discussion period at the end of most services,
which allows members of the congregation to share
their experience of the topic presented.
At the present time
our church is a lay-led community . Services may be presented
by members and friends of our congregation, by
members of the community or by professional ministers
who come to our pulpit as invited guests. Topics may
include the meaning of faith, contemporary issues in
society, personal growth, and living our values
through service in our community. Recent themes in
services have been the meaning of happiness, the
spiritual nature of food, the gifts offered through
caring for a mentally ill family member, and the
meaning and impact of atheism.
We welcome visitors
of all religious and spiritual traditions and
practices to share with us in our search for meaning.
